Jack White: Boarding House Observations
You can't review everything. It's a weird feeling to have, especially because I don't think anyone thinks to prepare you for it. There's some media outlets that try to subvert the entire concept of Metacritic by refusing to engage with it and its numerical necessity. You can still tell where those reviews would land on a numerical scale. You have people trying to discount reviews because of bias as well. I still end up seeking out reviews because I have my own biases I can compare against. So to be faced with an album that somehow seems to exist outside critique is almost jarring. Do I like Boarding House? I...I just don't know, and I have a hard time taking anyone seriously that has an answer. That doesn't mean there isn't stuff that can be said of the album.
